Middlesex completed their fourth Frizzell County Championship victory of the season winning by an innings and 23 runs inside three days over bottom county Glamorgan. This win lifts Middlesex to fourth place in the table.
Overnight batsmen Hughes and Wallace took the Glamorgan total to 105 before Jamie Dalrymple had Wallace caught by Chris Peploe for 64. Sourav Ganguly and Hughes added 48 runs before Hughes was bowled by Peploe for 41.
Powell joined Ganguly and this pair took Glamorgan to 208 when, with the last delivery before lunch, Scott Styris trapped Ganguly leg before for 55 (off 92 balls, with 10 fours).
Powell reached his fifty off 68 balls before he lost Grant LBW to Scott Styris for 6. The Glamorgan total reached 262-6 before Powell was out to a stunning catch by Ed Joyce, diving to his left, off the bowling of Chris Peploe for 58 (off 91 balls, 8 fours).
Styris dismissed Wharf, caught behind in the following over, and then Glamorgan captain Robert Croft was out in the same way as the resistance crumbled.
Scott Styris took the final wicket having Harrison caught in the deep to finish with figures of 5-57 in 14 overs. Styris departs to New Zealand for preparation for their tour to Zimbabwe next month before returning to Middlesex duty in mid-September.
