Match: LVCC 2
After overnight rain, play started on time at Lords but bad light caused the umpires to take the players from the field after only six overs, during which time the Warwickshire not out batsmen overnight, Brown and Streak scored the necessary nine runs to avoid the follow on.
This effectively removed Middlesex’s faint hopes of a victory, although the stoppage was only for four overs. On the resumption Silverwood had Brown dropped by Louw at mid-off, before Louw came on to replace Silverwood from the Pavilion End and with his first delivery trapped Heath Streak LBW for six.
The Warwickshire total advanced to 395-8 before Silverwood claimed Browns’ wicket in a new spell from the Nursery End to ensure Middlesex gained maximum bowling points. Brown made 69 runs off 135 balls (10 fours). The visitors just passed the 400 mark to ensure they had maximum batting points before the umpires brought the players off the field again for bad light.
An early lunch was taken, but rain set in during the luncheon interval and the match was eventually abandoned shortly after 3.00pm.
Middlesex take 12 points from the match to 11 points by Warwickshire.
