Vs: Glamorgan Second XI
On the only day where play was possible, day one of Middlesex Second’s three-day Second XI Championship match with Glamorgan Seconds at Gowerton CC on Tuesday May 16th, Glamorgan won the toss and asked Middlesex to bat first.
This soon proved justified as Middlesex were reduced to 66–2 in 27th over. David Nash joined Ben Scott at this point and from here the two wicket keepers put on 169 for the third wicket until David Nash went for 69 just before tea with the score on 235-3 and with Ben Scott on 132. Ben Scott was out soon after tea for 154 and when the rain arrived at quarter to six Middlesex had reached 352-6 with 32 not out from Chris Peploe and despite Darren Thomas taking 3-83 for Glamorgan.
At this point Middlesex declared and in the six overs remaining before the close Glamorgan reached 10-0.
On the second morning the rain returned and continued all morning. With no prospect of play, the match was abandoned for the day after lunch. The teams arrived at the ground on the third morning to discover that the rain had got under the covers and there was standing water on the pitch. As there was no prospect of a prompt start the match was abandoned as a draw before ten o’clock.
