Middlesex seconds, in their match against the Minor Counties at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes on Wednesday July 13 2005, soon had them in trouble - the Minor Counties having won the toss and batted, as Gordon Goudie took two wickets in the 2nd to reduce them 7-2. They rallied slight to reach 108- 6 in 26th, mainly due to 46 from Ravinder Nargra and Chris Wright taking 3-31 and Goudie 2-24. Paul Weekes with 3-9 then mopped up the tail as the Minor Counties were all out for 123 in the 37.

Due to the premature end to the Minor Counties innings lunch was not ready so Middlesex batted for 15 overs until the interval reaching it on 61-1 with Paul Weekes gone for 24. After lunch Middlesex reached their target of 124 in the 27 with 23 overs to spare, despite losing Ben Hutton for 38, as Nick Compton saw them home with 38 not out. Thus Middlesex secured their first victory in the group by 6 wickets in the seventh match out of eight in the competition.
