Middlesex go down at Lord's

FIXTURE

Vs: Nottinghamshire

Match: LVCC 1

Venue: Lord's

Day 4

Middlesex’s relegation from division one of the Liverpool Victoria County Championship was all but confirmed when they were all out for 387 at 12.15pm on the final day at Lord’s thereby losing to Nottinghamshire by an innings and 25 runs.

Middlesex captain Ben Hutton, having had to go off injured after being hit above the left elbow early in the innings yesterday, joined Chris Peploe at the wicket as Middlesex resumed their innings on 274-6, still needing a further 138 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

The ball was only four overs old and it was in the sixth over of the morning that Peploe, having played a fine straight drive off Shreck, tried to pull a ball and only succeeded in skiing a catch it to Bicknell at mid-off for 16. Hutton hit three boundaries before being eighth out when he was caught at first slip off Harris for 27.

Louw and Wright enjoyed themselves delaying the inevitable, adding 43 runs for the ninth wicket with Louw hitting two successive straight sixes off Hussey before being bowled next ball for 42 (off 54 balls, 2 sixes & 4 fours). Silverwood and Wright swung their bats to good effect before Silverwood holed out off Hussey for 16 as Middlesex were all out for 387. Chris Wright was 25 not out.
